Songwriting workshop with Jack Williams
Folks, here's an incredible opportunity to work with one of the best songwriters around. Lon and I are hosting this dreamy event here at Gatorbone.
Thanks to those of you who have already signed up. What a fun time we shall have!
Here's a note from Jack...
I'm looking forward to being in Florida to finish work on a new CD at the home/studio of Lon & Lis Williamson. During my time there, on Saturday, August 31st, I'll hold a Songwriting Workshop at their home on Gatorbone Lake, in Keystone Heights, FL. If you'd be interested in attending, please let us know in advance so we can know what to expect about the group's size.
We'll begin the workshop at 3pm and will plan on a 3-hour session, although, if interest and enthusiasm are high, we can go on until we just can't take it any more! We're charging $40 per person. Afterwards, we'll have sandwiches and other edibles and drinkables.
The workshop format will be a discussion/critique of songs-in-progress. If you'd like to have one of your songs discussed, please bring a copy (or copies for everyone) of your lyrics. My hearing aids are a great help but they still don't allow me to hear many lyric details. PLEASE don't bring a song which you've finished and are happy with! Bring a work in progress, or a song which has presented problems for you. We'll cover every aspect of songwriting - initial ideas, lyric- and melody-writing, form, accompaniment, commercial-vs-non-commercial writing, and possibly performance (if there are time and interest).

A word about our Opera House Concerts....
Lon and I love the Monticello Opera House. We strive to present shows there as often as we can because we believe there is no better venue around for a musical presentation. A goodly portion of every ticket sold goes directly to the preservation and restoration of this fine theatre, one of Florida's treasures. Please support these artists and this grand old venue at the same time and plan to join us for these upcoming shows!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
