Emmylou Harris

Lee Hunter & Walter Parks opening act!!

Longtime friends, Walter Parks and Lee Hunter, will be collaborating for the first time in a set to open the show for Emmylou Harris on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at the Time-Union Center. Walter Parks, formerly a Jacksonville resident who now lives in New York, is best known for his work with the swamp blues band, Swamp Cabbage, for his years of accompanying Richie Havens, and for his ground-breaking duo, The Nudes. Lee, a Jacksonville resident, has had a long touring career as one-half of the duo, Tammerlin. Walter and Lee have been friends for decades and have always been supportive of each other’s careers. For this show, they’ll be combining their talents and presenting a mixture of both Lee’s and Walter’s songs along with a couple of traditional tunes.
Thirteen-time Grammy award-winning artist, Emmylou Harris has had a remarkable career spanning five decades and over 30 albums. Harris, a Country Music Hall of Fame inductee is one of the most captivating female artists in country music history.
Tickets to this performance are $70, $55 and $40 and are available at Ticketmaster.com and at 800-745-3000. You may also purchase tickets at the Tom Bush Family Box Office at Veterans Memorial Arena.

Live streaming concert from Mighty Fine Guitars ala Stevie Coyle!

Walter Strauss

Hello Walter Strauss music fans! It's so delightful to know that you can stream live the concert Walter will be performing from Stevie Coyle's dream guitar store, Mighty Fine Guitars. Here's a note from Stevie...

It's Wally!
You folks that haven't heard him, well, you've never heard anything like him. A truly unique and world-class voice in acoustic guitar. But don't believe just little ol' me ...
“Walter Strauss brings a whole new sonic dimension to the fingerstyle guitar scene with his signature West African influenced technique, heavily syncopated rhythms, and richly textured lines. Lyrical, totally grooving, and always from the heart, Walter is a true original and one of the most distinctive players today!” Alex de Grassi, Grammy nominated American guitarist.
– “A fine player with a voice of his own in the world ... beautiful, fluid and sophisticated.” Martin Simpson, British guitar luminary.

Enjoy!
